When using v3.0 of Store Pickup + Local Delivery we handle checkout translations very differently from previous versions and separately from the main app’s widget translations.
Checkout languages are supported in v3.0 by changing the local language code of the store to a separate file from your stores default. This means any edits that you make in Shopify’s standard language editor will now only affect any changes to the ‘Shipping’ checkout channel, if you’re using Store Pickup or Local Delivery you will need to update the necessary file(s) manually.
Identifying which files that your store is using
To discover the correct file that you need to edit you need to first log in to the Store Pickup + Local Delivery app and head into the Settings > Languages area.
You will see in our example above we’re currently using English as our main language. You will also not that there are separate checkout languages for the Store Pickup and Local Delivery services.
We simply use these languages as placeholders, their contents will be that of your main language, no need to panic about your store actually being converted to an incorrect locale!
Finding the files to edit
Your language files are stored within your stores theme under the locales folder. To view these head to your stores theme and under Actions select Edit HTML/CSS:
Locales is always the last folder in your theme, you will be able to view all of the available language files by opening up that folder:
Knowing the correct language code to edit from our app simply open up that file and make your adjustments:
The language specific to the checkout is usually located at the very end of the file so we suggest you scroll straight to the bottom and work back up!
