How it works:
Customers choose their pickup location, date and time on your shopping cart page like normal.
They will then hit the Checkout button and arrive at a modified version of the Shipping Information page as shown below.
- We automatically update the wording to ensure that the customer experience is as seamless as possible. So, for example, we update the words "Shipping address" to "Pickup information" and "Shipping" to "Store Pickup" (shown in green).
- We also pre-populate the shipping address fields with your pickup locations information. This ensures that the appropriate taxes are charged for the order (shown in red).
Now comes the first caveat. Unless you are using Shopify Plus, Zapiet can't stop your customers from changing the pre-populated address fields. A customer could accidentally change the pickup address to their home address. We're hoping that by labelling the fields as clearly as possible this won't happen often. If it does then you can refer back to the order attributes as shown below. These fields will always contain the correct pickup address information.
Once a customer has entered their name and telephone number they will proceed to the Shipping Rates page.
- Like the Customer Information page, Store Pickup + Delivery updates the wording to make it more appropriate for pickups.
- The app automatically creates and selects a free Store Pickup rate when Carrier Calculated Shipping is enabled on your store (see comments below).
Now comes the second caveat ...
If you have Carrier Calculated Shipping enabled on your Shopify store then we will automatically create a "Store Pickup" rate for you. This will only be visible when a customer chooses to pickup their order. There is no need for you to worry about Shipping / Delivery customers choosing your free store pickup rate.
If you don't have Carrier Calculated Shipping enabled we recommend you ask Shopify to add it to your plan. You don't always need to upgrade to one of their more expensive packages to get this enabled. They will often charge you an extra $20 per month, or if you switch to paying annually they may provide it for free. Hop over to support.shopify.com and ask your Guru.
If you do not want to pay the extra then you can just add a shipping rate via the Shopify admin panel called "Store Pickup". Be aware that your shipping/delivery customers may select your free store pickup shipping rate by mistake. You would then have to contact your customer and ask them to pay the difference for shipping/delivery or saturate the cost yourself.
Other than those two caveats mentioned above we think you are going to love this version of the app. If you have any feedback please let us know by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org.
